Assignment 1: Web Accessibility

As the Internet and the World Wide Web (WWW) have evolved, more individuals with disabilities are using the Internet. Therefore, when designing a website, it's important to consider not only the appearance of its design, but also the accessibility of its design and content. Certain design techniques, colors, or items are harder for individuals with disabilities to access, read, or view.

Tasks:

• Using the Argosy University online library resources, the Internet, and your reading, research on web accessibility and find out some of the common accessibility standards or best practices.
• In a minimum of 250 words, respond to the following:
  • Why do you believe it is important to create accessible and open websites?
  • What are some common accessibility standards/best practices?

Submission Details:

• By the due date assigned, post your responses to the Discussion Area.
• Through the end of the module, respond to at least two of your classmates' posts. While responding, draw comparisons between the examples you provided and the examples submitted by your classmates; and provide a rationale for the comparisons.
• Your response should rely upon at least two sources from professional 
  literature—articles from peer-reviewed journals and relevant textbooks. Write in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources (i.e., APA format); and use accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
