Focus on the role of nationalism in WWI, as well as the ways that the Great War impacted national identities and nation-states in Europe. Select one of the following belligerents: Austro-Hungarian Empire, Ottoman Empire, the Kingdom of Italy, or the Russian Empire. Do you think your chosen belligerent was a true nation-state at the outbreak of WWI or not?
