My Leader

Short Paper “My Leader”Using a leader you have had at some point in time in your career, describe her/him by applying the leadership theories presented in the next module. DO NOT use a relative or some leader with whom you have NOT had any direct contact. For example -- do not use Obama, Bush, Clinton (unless you actually have been in their inner circle and can speak from f2f experience, and do not use your father or mother or any other relative.)  If you have any doubts about your selection check with me please.FYI – for example simply declaring your leader uses the democratic style – or the autocratic style – or the laissez faire style is too simplistic and not at all adequate. These three styles are broad umbrella styles that do not provide much detail. There are many leadership styles that allow a much greater detailed analysis of a leader’s style. Make sure that you have read the leadership style lecture to get an in-depth picture of the many choices there are to describe a leader’s style. It is not unusual for a leader to use parts of several styles. When you identify your leader’s style use a specific leadership style or parts of several leadership styles – and DO NOT use democratic or autocratic or laissez faire – these are not detailed enough to be acceptable for this assignment. Use examples of the leader's behavior to identify what theories or parts of theories your leader used. ·         Provide an introductory paragraph to explain what you will be addressing in the paper.·         How did your leader manage diversity? Use specific examples of your leader's behavior.(Addressed throughout all sessions)·         Was your leader ethical? Give an example of an ethical act by your leader.(Week 4)·         Was your leader concerned about the impact the organization had on the consumer? (Social responsibility) (Week 4)·         What do you believe were your leader's values -- provide examples of the leader's behavior to support the value. (Week 3)·         At what stage in the organizations “lifecycle” was your organization. Provide examples that support the placement of your organization in that stage. Did your leader manage appropriately for the stage of the organization? (Week 2)·         What was the culture in your organization and what did your leader do to enhance the culture -- or did your leader tend to destroy the culture? (Week 3)·         Provide the leadership theory (or theories) that most accurately reflect your leader’s style. (Week 6 ) Remember – do not use democratic, autocratic or laissez faire. ·         Was your leader’s leadership style the right fit for your organization – fully discuss. Complete the paper with a comprehensive summary paragraph.Keep the paper to about 4-5 double spaced pages. Use New Times Roman and a 12 font. Use at least three outside credible sources. It is expected you will include at least three outside references in addition to any text references you may use. Please make sure that if you must refer to yourself that you do so in third person except when you say – “my leader”.  This is a change from the first paper you wrote. Submit to WRIT for writing help if you want.

You must submit papers as a Microsoft WORD doc.  Hints for the grading for this paper. It is much more challenging to write a good short      paper. You need to address the required information clearly and      completely without superfluous information cluttering the content. BE      SUCCINCT AND TO THE POINT Make sure your grammar is correct. This will play an      important part in the grading of your paper. Make sure you search for the right APA format for the      entire paper and the references. Again, this will have a direct impact on      your overall grade. Make sure that you address the criteria listed above. Even      if your paper is excellent BUT it does not address the criteria it will      have a direct negative effect on your grade. Use the required file name for your document when you      upload to your folderDO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKES YOU MADE IN THE FIRST PAPER. Improving the structure and content on each succeeding paper is expected.
