Whether because of our own interests or due to circumstances outside of our control, many of us at some point in our lives attempt to learn how to play a musical instrument, or instruments. As we spend Week 2 getting acquainted with the various instrument types, please consider the following:

• Did you, or someone you know, ever attempt to learn a musical instrument? What spurned that interest in the first place? Was it a performance, the look of the instrument, the instrument's sound, or something else? Describe it.
• What was the experience of learning the instrument like? Did you find it pleasurable, or no? Why?
• Were you self-taught, or did you have an instructor?
• Did you feel that you gained a better appreciation for either the instrument or the music of that instrument through your experiences?
• Did you play by yourself, or with larger groups?
