Due on Monday ,  

Topic:  A research paper on any World Music topic you are interested in. The more    interested you are in it, the better, so pick something that really sounds good.

Topics may include, but are not limited to:

-A specific music culture, or a specific social function of music 

-A genre/style of music

-A type/family of instrument(s)

-A specific performer, performance, or performance area

Almost anything is possible, let me know if you have questions/thoughts.

Length: 3-4 pages, double-spaced, 12pt standard font (The ideal “finish line” should be    somewhere near the end of the 3rd, or the beginning of the 4th page). 

Pictures and extended quotations are acceptable/encouraged, but do not contribute to   text length requirements.

Format: No Title Page, include Works Cited page only if necessary.

If you use specific musical examples (encouraged), provide YouTube link, if possible.

No specific format (MLA, APA, etc.) required. 

Use appropriate spelling and grammar (but don't worry, no points will be taken off for    misspelling/grammar)

Grading: Less than 3 pages      = -10%

Late Submission without prior notice/explanation  = -10% per week

Egregious Error       = -5% per instance

(no name, misspelling my name, making things up, 14pt Comic Sans font, etc.)
