"Jazz began as an improvised music for dancing. As you will discover this semester, the relationship to dancing will change in jazz over time. Do you think it is possible to relate the popularity of a musical style to the ability to dance to it? Can you think of examples where this is either a true or false statement? Is there a style of music (other than jazz) that comes to mind?"
