Emic-Etic Document Assignment 2. Please submit your assignments in Canvas using a PDF or .docx format by the date indicated in your syllabus. I do not accept late submissions without a university-approved excuse or accommodation. This class of over 100 students is simply too large to manage otherwise. Emic-Etic documents are two-part assignments. Part 1 - Emic documentation: First, listen to any song of your choosing, then document the following What you listened to? (List the song title, band or artist name, year created, published, or posted, and style of music if you know it.) Where did you listen? (List the location, date/time, and platform [live, album, Spotify, etc]) Why did you choose the song? Write a detailed description. (Was it your mood, activity, or a special occasion?) What does it make you feel? Part 2 - Etic documentation: After completing part 1, listen to the song posted by the professor (see below), then document the following Observe and analyze your experience while listening to the song posted by the professor. List the performer, song title, composer, and genre, and refer to these specifically when writing. How does this song make you feel? How did your experience differ from your chosen song for part 1? What questions did these new experiences make you think about? You must answer all items above to get full credit for your submission. Remember, this is not a song analysis, it is an analysis of how the song makes you feel and think.

Emic-Etic Document Assignment 1 - Please submit your assignments in Canvas using a PDF or .docx format by the date indicated. For this first Listening Viewing Log assignment, I will accept late papers for one additional week. After one week from the due date, I will no longer accept submissions and it will be a missed assignment with no credit given. In all future assignments, I will not accept late papers - this class of over 100 students is simply too large to manage otherwise. Emic-Etic documents are two-part assignments. Part 1 - Emic documentation: First, listen to any song of your choosing, then document the following What you listened to?
