n this discussion, you will link some of the innovations in music from the Medieval and Renaissance eras to contemporary music.

Instructions

Choose one compositional technique commonly seen in music of the Medieval or Renaissance eras, such as Monophony, Polyphony, Heterophony, Word Painting, and Syllabic or Melismatic text setting. Explain to the class how the technique works and give some examples of its use in Medieval and/or Renaissance music. Find an example of it in modern popular music, tell the class how the technique is applied in the song you chose, and provide a link so everyone can listen to your example.
