Module 5 Discussion: Dimensions of Diversity

You need to respond to the following questions with at least two to three sentences for each response. You need to be specific and genuine in your response. You need to read other student responses and pick two students to post a response back with at least two to three sentences.

1. Look at page 140-141 "awareness of self". Read through the list of what social workers must have a knowledge of for cultural competence. Identify the top 2 listed that you think are most important and explain why.
2. Identify at least three cultures or subcultures that you do not know much about and would need to learn in order to effectively work with them.
3. Share an experience you have had or witnessed of discrimination. How does this give you a better understanding of clients who are treated with discrimination?
