Overview:
In this module, you will examine a variety of behavioral and personality theories by famous psychologists such as Abraham Maslow, Sigmund Freud, and B. F. Skinner. The most useful lessons to learn from this chapter is not so much the theories, but the psychological problems that are prevalent within our society. An evolving society will always have its adjustment problems and each member of society plays a small role in that adjustment. .
Summary:
This chapter discusses a range of theories and therapies, each possessing its own merit. The most significant takeaway may not be the specific theories themselves (though understanding them is essential), but rather the recognition that psychological issues are widespread among the majority of society. It is all too common to perceive ourselves as misaligned while viewing others as well-adjusted (or the opposite). In the context of the course, the crucial insight is to comprehend the dynamics through which individuals and societies interact. While society consists of individuals, it transcends mere aggregation, representing a complex entity. Therefore, the development of individuals and that of society are interdependent processes.
