Module 02 Discussion - Is a Leader Born or Made?

The concepts of leadership and management are somewhat of a controversial issue. Some believe the concepts are very much the same, while others think they are completely different.

Leadership is often thought of as an influential force--for instance, one who possesses the ability to change organizational culture, create opportunities, and inspire. Management, on the other hand, enforces the change. There's an old "proverb" that says leadership is doing the right thing and management is doing things right.

Based on this information, compare the concepts of leadership and management and whether leaders are born or made. Discuss whether or not you think leaders are born or made. Why or why not? Think about the different responsibilities and duties of a leader and how those responsibilities correlate to a leader or manager.
