Asian American Identity  Reflection Paper: This is a 4-page personal narrative paper that provides the students an opportunity to deconstruct the notion of Asian American identity by revealing details from personal experience or by outlining an event or series of events. The reflection paper must make a point and should not be a jumble of unconnected ideas. Some questions that you may want to consider in your paper include:

What is “Asian American” to you? How is Asian American identity negotiated in your life? Is there only one Asian American identity or multiplicity of identities? When and how did you become aware of the concepts of race and ethnicity? What role does “Asianness" play in how you identify yourself? Is the term "Asian American" empowering or disempowering? How do relationships (familial, dating, etc.) affect your identity? How did you become who you are? Is identity fluid or is it static?
