Jubenal Garcia

As the Vice President of Supply Chain Operations for JG Enterprises, my main goal is to build a supply chain that is strong, flexible, and sustainable. Recent events around the world have proven that businesses cannot only focus on keeping costs low. To succeed, we must design a supply chain that can quickly adjust to challenges while also supporting long-term growth (Hugos, 2018).

Strategy and Rationale

Our new supply chain strategy will focus on three main areas: (1) using digital tools for better visibility and faster decisions, (2) moving toward greener and more sustainable practices, and (3) working with a wider variety of suppliers to lower risk. Research shows that companies with digital and diverse supply chains were more than twice as likely to succeed during disruptions (McKinsey, 2020). At the same time, customers and investors expect companies to be more environmentally responsible (World Economic Forum, 2021).

Proposed Projects and 12-Month Schedule

To put this strategy into action, I propose the following projects:

Q1–Q2: Digital Supply Chain Upgrades

· Launch a supply chain management system that uses data analytics, ERP, and IoT for real-time updates.

· Test AI-based demand forecasting to cut down on excess inventory.

Q2–Q3: Supplier Expansion

· Add at least three new regional suppliers to reduce the risks of relying on just one source.

· Review current suppliers to identify weaknesses.

Q3–Q4: Sustainability Efforts

· Begin switching packaging to recyclable or biodegradable materials.

· Track and report the company’s carbon footprint in logistics and production.

· Partner with shipping companies that use low-emission vehicles.

· Strategic Alliance with Green Product Manufacturers

I recommend that JG Enterprises partner with manufacturers of green products. Doing so will boost our reputation, attract environmentally conscious customers, and help us meet new regulations. Deloitte (2022) found that companies that include sustainability in their supply chains benefit from stronger customer loyalty and long-term cost savings.

Market Capability Focus

Of the four main market capabilities, cost, quality, delivery, and flexibility we will focus on flexibility. The COVID-19 pandemic showed how important it is for companies to quickly adapt to changes in demand and supply. To improve flexibility, we will:

· Use advanced analytics to improve scheduling.

· Create digital models of our supply chain to test different scenarios.

· Develop contracts with suppliers that allow quick changes in order volume.

Conclusion

This 12-month plan will help JG Enterprises compete more effectively while preparing for future challenges. By combining digital tools, sustainable practices, and strong partnerships, we will improve operations and build long-term value for our shareholders, employees, and customers (OpenAI, 2025).

As Vice President of Supply Chain Operations at Kohl's, making Kohl's more sustainable now will promote abundant long-term growth. Today's shoppers, especially younger generations, are looking for brands that not only deliver value but also demonstrate responsibility. By moving the company into the green product market, Kohl's can tap into this rising demand while also reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship (NielsenIQ, 2023).

This strategy would hinge on partnering with manufacturers of certified eco-friendly products, ensuring quality, transparency, and compliance with recognized sustainability standards. This approach will allow Kohl's to expand its product mix, stand apart from competitors, and appeal to customers who want their purchases to align with their values.

Over the next 12 months, I propose three projects to bring this vision to life. In Q2, we will begin onboarding a network of eco-certified suppliers. In Q3, we would pilot a sustainable product line in 200 key stores to measure customer response and operational impact. By Q4, we would launch a reverse logistics program designed to recycle and reclaim products, strengthening Kohl's circular supply chain efforts.

Among the four market capabilities-cost, quality, speed, and flexibility our focus will be on flexibility. The retail landscape is shifting quickly, and by using data-driven forecasting, stronger supplier collaboration, and enhanced digital platforms, Kohl's can build a supply chain that adapts smoothly to consumer preferences and regulatory changes (Chopra & Meindl, 2023). This position of Kohl is not just for near-term gains, but for long-term resilience.
