Mentoring Program

Team Leadership Project : A presentation and paper is required for this

assignment. Students will be paired up with a partner to present to the class your

research/findings about a topic in Talent or Leadership Development 

Topic : Mentoring programs

The goal of this assignment is to have students research about a particular topic and

to present “best practices” regarding what organizations are doing today. Students are required to interview a HR representative, company leader, or organizational

development representative to ask them about their experiences with implement a

leadership development initiative within a company. (you can make up the person, but not the company)

Students will need to develop a presentation (no longer than 20 minutes) derived from articles, research, and interviews with leaders and/or HR personnel in organizations

and present a written summary of their results as a team.

Some key questions to answer in preparing both your presentation and written

summary about “Best Practices” in a specific talent/leadership development topic are:

 What are some of the current trends around this topic of interest?

 What are the benefits of implementing this initiative?

 What are some of the risks and obstacles involved with ensuring the

process leads to successful outcome?

 What kinds of tools would you need to be used in implementing this

initiative?

 What are some models/theories that can be used to implement this

initiative?

 What are the implications for leaders, employees, and the organization?

 What are the relevant competencies needed for the leader to be successful

at this initiative (if relevant)?

 What are at least (2) contemporary organizations that have been known for

their initiatives on this topic?
