Topic Selection: Anxiety Disorder For my paper next week, I would like to research Anxiety Disorder (AD). AD is

classified in the DSM-5 as an anxiety disorder involving long-term, excessive, and uncontrollable worry about a variety of situations. My psychology textbook explains that people with anxiety disorders often experience nonstop tension, problems concentrating, insomnia, and constant feelings of dread even when no clear threat is present (Feldman, 2021). This makes AD an important topic because it differs from normal, everyday anxiety and significantly affects daily functioning.

I selected anxiety disorders because are one of the most usal mental-health conditions, and AD in particular affects how individuals think, behave, and respond to stress over long periods. Research also shows that AD is linked to both biological and cognitive factors, making it a complex disorder to understand. For example, a study by Newman et al. (2023) notes that individuals with AD show heightened sensitivity to uncertain situations, which contributes to their ongoing worry. I'm really interested in learning more about how the disorder is diagnosed, how it will affect functioning, and the evidence-based treatments available.

Overall, AD is a meaningful topic because it provides a really big opportunity to explore all the differences between the normal stress responses and clinically significant anxiety that interferes with daily life. I look forward to researching this disorder more deeply for the upcoming paper.
