Each student will attend and observe on open AA, Al-Anon, or NA meetings (some of these groups are also meeting online).
After attending an open meeting, discuss your perspective of the group you attended. Include what group format was followed, how members identified themselves, and what principles of group work you saw in action in the group.
Discuss what benefits you thought were gained by the members attending the group and what potential drawbacks members might experience.

B: Why did we come to Al‑Anon?
C: Did we cause our loved one to drink? If we are not the ones with the drinking problem, why are we talking about our powerlessness over alcohol? Can we control our loved one’s drinking? Can we cure our loved one’s drinking problem?
D: What do we mean when we say our lives became unmanageable? Does it mean we will always feel angry or sad or depressed? Will our lives continue to be as chaotic as they are today? Is there any hope for improvement?
E: Why did I feel afraid to go to my first Al-Anon meeting? Isn’t the drinking somebody else’s problem?
