Watch the "classroom video" titled "Probability Lesson -- Rolling a die," linked here: Probability Lesson You may have to try a "CTRL-click." If the link doesn't work for you, look for this under the "Videos & Other Multimedia" tab in MyMathLab. It's tied to section 9.1. Please answer the following questions.
1. Listen carefully to the children's answers when they're asked how many times they think they should get a four when rolling a die 50 times. Choose one of the answers and explain what the child's reasoning process is and whether it works on this problem.
2. This short snippet is only part of a lesson, of course. Explain how you might continue (and conclude) this lesson so that the students come away from it with a rule they can use, rather than just speculating about the possibilities.
3. The gentleman who speaks briefly at one point in the video mentions rolling two dice and adding the numbers that turn up. He says children are surprised by how many times a sum of 7 comes up. What's the (theoretical) probability of getting a sum of 7 in this situation?
