The key for understanding the map labels is:

Capital Letters (AA) indicate States, Provinces or Territories;

Small Letters (q) indicate major Cities;

Numbers (22) indicate a range of physical features (lakes, mountain ranges);

The letter R followed immediately by a number (R7) indicates a river.
