Manifesto of beliefs pertaining to public education

 I have to write a (5 paragraph) paper on my beliefs pertaining to public education and related matters of learning and human development.  This is an informal/creative version. This Manifestos will be evaluated for formatting, structure, grammar, spelling, and surface conventions.  Think of this assignment as your first attempt to get your thoughts together on what is important in education.  What should schools do exactly?  What function does education serve for the individual and for society at large?  How should your subject(math) area be taught?  What is critical in mathematics?  That kind of thing.
