LSD
LSD ARTICLE IS ATTACHED BELOW TO READ
After having read the extra reading on LSD, how do you feel about the complex history of this substance? Using specific examples from the extra reading, what was most surprising to you about our government's handling of LSD? Do you think there is any credence to the concept of "bloodless war" through the use of psychedelics? Why do you think most military and government officials never predicted the potential popularity of the substances they were experimenting with? Also, what are your own personal feelings about the use of psychedelic drugs & what have your experiences been like with them? Does the motive behind use have influence over your opinions (i.e. college students eating mushrooms at a concert vs. attending a mushroom healing ceremony in the Amazon)? Finally, given their very low levels of bothtoxicity and abuse-potential, why do you think substances like LSD and psilocybin remain so tightly regulated? Remember, millions of individuals tried these substances in the 1960s & 1970s; do you think the cultures that became known for using them (i.e. hippies, anti-war demonstrators, youth in general) have anything to do with the current legal standing?
