LP4.1 Assignment - The Facade of Neutrality

Directions: The United States tried hard to remain neutral as the war in Europe tore through the landscape. However, it was not a realistic option. Some people would argue that even President Wilson knew that neutrality and isolationism were not truly possible. With that in mind, please answer the following questions:

1. In your opinion, why was the United States trying to stay neutral and remain isolated?
2. Do you think the geography of the United States affected people's attitudes toward isolationism? Why or why not?
3. When the United States finally entered the war, why did it take so long to mobilize?
