literature review information

This Literature Review is really quite small, only requiring 2-5 pages.  The review is not a collection of your opinions, instead details about your topic supported by peer-reviewed (scholarly) publications or in some cases professional/trade materials (like AHIMA, HIMSS, AMIA) or non-profit and governmental organizations.  A rule of thumb is 10 sources per page - I'm not grading on volume however it gives you an idea of how you should be supporting your thoughts.

This 2-5 review should include;

  • sources/ideas directly related to your topic
  • sources recently published (within 10 years unless there is a specific reason for using an older source)
  • reliable sources (peer-reviewed, professional, governmental, non-profit)
  • cited correctly
