 Write a clear response paragraph to "Telescope, Well Bucket, Furnace".  What do you think about the author's ideas about poetry and how it relates to life?  Choose at least one of the metaphors she uses and discuss your thoughts about it.  This response doesn't have to be highly philosophical--especially since this essay is about how poetry is inherently practical. When you write a response, focus on YOUR IDEAS about what you read.  Do not summarize the text.  Write with the assumption that your READER/AUDIENCE has read the text and understands it.  When you cite particular words or sentences, put them in quotation marks.  You DO NOT need to supply a bibliographic citation unless assignment directions require it.
