Linguistic

 Option I: Language data — I will give you a longish list of data. You will have a native speaker of another language translate that data into our 3-line gloss style of translation, and then you will write a 3-5 page explanation of that data. 

Option 2: a topic — You will choose a topic related to linguistics that you are interested in, but which we couldn't cover in class (forensic linguistics, anthropological linguistics, criminology, Al, social robotics, sociology, etc). You will write a 3-5 page essay summarizing some element of the role of linguistics or a particular field of linguistics (for example, syntax) in this topic.
