Leisure, Recreation and Seniors
The purpose of this assignment is to explore play, recreation, and leisure in the lives of seniors. By seniors I mean ages 65 and older. We are looking for seniors ages 65 and up. You need to interview a minimum of 15 seniors (extra credit to those who interview more). You need to ask your seniors the following information:
*Age
*Gender (no need to ask-but we need for data purposes)
*Did you play regularly as young child?
*Did you work as a teenager?
*Did you attend college or start working after high school?
*What were the biggest barriers to your play, recreation in your 20's, 30's, 40's, and 50's?
*Are you retired? If so at what age did you retire?
*What barriers exist in your play, recreation, and leisure today?
*In looking at your play across the lifespan what changes would you make if any?
*What health ailments do you contend with that can prevent you from participating in activities you enjoy?
As well as securing the above information you will need to secure a scholarly journal article related to play and adults-you may want to consider sub topics like senior and leisure, seniors and recreation-no websites, magazines, or newspapers. Discuss your findings as well as how the findings relate to the article you have found. Failure to discuss your findings as well as discuss your findings in relation to a scholarly journal article. Be sure to include the above information you collect from your seniors in a table or graph to allow for easier data consolidation. Look forward to your findings.
