Killing the black Body 2- discussion board post

Dorothy Roberts' book, Killing the Black Body, is a foundational book in the area of reproductive justice. This week, you read the second half of the book. This post should address the following:

  • Briefly reflect on why the semester opens with this text -- what does reproductive justice have to do with science?

  • Comment on Roberts' arguments in Chapter 7 about the limits of liberty. How might a shift in the definition of liberty (from a negative right to a broader definition that centers justice and racial equity) impact policies and legislation related to reproduction?

  • This book was first published in the mid-1990s. In what ways are Roberts' arguments still (or more) relevant, and in what ways are they less relevant?
