Discussion Board #3: Pecha Kucha Organization Examples
Now that you have had a chance to take a look at various PK examples, and you have chosen your topic for your own presentation, this week we're going to take a look at how to organize your PK presentations.
· TO REVIEW : Revisit the PK presentation example you chose for Discussion Board #2 . Last week, you were given strong PK examples and asked to give several answers that included the following Presentation Info:
· Title Info, Description, Goals, and Production Choices (Purpose, Content, and Tone), and Your Rationale.
· NOW, READ: You are asked to consider the organizational choices that were made to put your chosen example together. Please read more about how to organize ideas when putting stories and informative presentations together with these resources: Organizational Patterns for Informative Speaking and Narrative Arc and Storytelling Organization .
· NEXT: Reviewing the PK presentation you chose last week, discuss the organizational structure of the presentation:
· How would you describe the organization and order of the presentation (chronological, spatial, topical, causal, narrative arc)?
· Why do you think this? Support your choice with examples using "For example" or "For instance," etc.
· In your Answer: Begin by giving us the Presentation Title Info of your selection, including the title, author, and date if available. You can bullet point your response or clearly provide your answer in a paragraph format.

1. Presentation Info
· Title: History of Denim
· Author: Amanda Lauro
· Date & Location: April 19, 2020, PechaKucha Online Library
· Link: https://www.pechakucha.com/presentations/amanda-lauro---history-of-denimLinks to an external site.
2. Presentation Description
Amanda Lauro demonstrates how denim originated as a piece of French fabric in the 17th century and became a worldwide cultural icon. She follows it to the gold-rush working wear of Levi Strauss, to Hollywood bikinis, motorcycle rebellion, hippies, punks, and grunge heroes. Denim has resiliency and also reinvention, proving useful and trendy today. Lauro brings history, fashion, and identity in contact with each other, emphasizing the attractiveness of denim to any classes and age.
3. Presentation Goals and Production Choices
· Purpose: Lauro demonstrates denim as more than an outfit, it is a cultural timeless that is rebellious, resilient and practical. She also brings out its perpetual reinvention in sustainability and innovation.
· Content: The slides combine old photos of early jeans with such pop-culture icons as Marlon Brando. Both pictures provide a historical point in time, and the viewer can follow through to the end and can also anticipate the cultural landmarks of denim. The combination of history, effects of a celebrity and sub-cultural adaptation ensure a balance of attention and is not saturated.
· Tone: Informative but excited, in a celebratory mood. Lauro asserts that denim did not go out of fashion because the skaters, soldiers, and so on, adopted it. Colorful images of the jeans throughout the decades are nostalgic and allude to the innovative future.
4. Choice Rationale
I selected this presentation due to its historical and cultural smooth flow that transforms a commonly used object to a marvel. Most of the people put on denim but through Lauro, its richness is brought out as a social and cultural symbol. Her talk about soldiers coming back after World War II on motorcycles in jeans was a shining example as it turned denim into the symbol of defiance. This demonstrates that clothing can be given a multidimensional meaning that is not limited to fashion and make the presentation more approachable and provocative.
