Addressing the mental health needs of rural Latino children in educational settings is a crucial area of study. For my Assignment #3 – Journal Article Critique, I have selected an empirical research article that examines the implementation of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) within educational settings for children. The article "Delivering CBT to Rural Latino Children with Anxiety Disorders: A Qualitative Study" by Chavira, Bustos, Garcia, Ng, and Camacho, published in 2017, investigates how Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) can be effectively delivered to this population. The study uses qualitative methods, including focus groups with bilingual Latino mental health providers and interviews with Latino parents, to understand perceptions and attitudes toward different CBT delivery methods. In my critique, I will analyze the research methodology, evaluate the findings, and discuss the implications for educational practices and policies to support the mental health of rural Latino children.
