OBTAIN COPIES OF RECENT MAINSTREAM NURSING JOURNALS (E.G. AMERICAN JOURNAL OF NURSING, NURSING, RN). EXAMINE PRACTICE BASED FOCUSED ARTICLES AND TRY TO IDENTIFY THEORIES THAT AFFECT THE SUGGESTED INTERVENTIONS AND NURSING IMPLICATIONS. THE ARTICLE MUST NOT BE A REVIEW OR A COMMENTARY; IT MUST BE PRACTICED BASED. IF POSSIBLE, CHOOSE AN ARTICLE THAT YOU WILL USE FOR YOUR THEORY PAPER IN WHICH YOU WILL DISCUSS USE OF THE THEORY IN A PRACTICE SETTING.

Look for an article in which there is an actual nursing  intervention.  It should  NOT be a retrospective study, a literature review etc. It must be   practiced based.  Try to find one with a nursing intervention.  It can be an article describing interventions to prevent UTI or interventions to prevent falls.

For your chosen article:

1. State the theory that can be applied for this intervention  and give a very brief description of the theory (1-2 sentences)

2. Discuss the nursing intervention (very brief 2 -3 sentences)

3. Explain why you chose this theory and how it is applicable to the nursing intervention and application.

e.g. If the intervention is about skin to skin contact for neonates then Mercer's  theory may be applicable - explain

If the intervention is about an app for adherence to medications, then perhaps a social cognitive theory is suitable -explain
