Understanding Human Resource Management
I. Introduction
A. Attention Getter: Imagine managing an organization where growth and success are directly
tied to how well it nurtures and motivates the workforce.
B. Relevance: Human Resource Management is essential to shape the workforce and ensure an
organization's success through strategically managing strategically managing the people.
C. Thesis Statement: This speech shall explore the importance of Human Resource
Management by focusing on recruitment strategies, employee development, and retention.
D. Preview of Main Points: First, the essay will discuss the role of HRM in recruiting talents;
second, employee development; and last but not least, retention strategies.
II. HRM’s Role in Recruitment
A. Defining Recruitment: Recruitment is attracting or selecting a person for a position in an
organization.
B. Strategies for Effective Recruitment: For organizations, recruitment of the best talent has to
be done very strategically, making use of data analytics, among other available means, and,
recently, social media platforms (Ployhart, 2021).
C. Challenges in Recruitment: Competition within industries can create talent voids for
companies by providing the most qualified candidates.
Transitional Sentence: Having learned the recruitment strategies, let us proceed to how HRM
develops employees.

examine why retention is essential to organizational success.

A. The Cost of High Turnover: High levels of turnover have many associated costs for the
organization, such as costs of recruitment, training, and lost productivity (Ployhart, 2021).
B. Effective Retention Methods: Human resource management must develop effective
compensation packages, work-life balance programs, and opportunities for career advancement
that will retain top talent (Herrera & de las Heras-Rosas, 2020).

satisfied workforces by tackling retention strategies.
V. Conclusion
