Hello everyone! My name is Kelly, and I’m originally from Schaumburg, Illinois, but I’ve called New Braunfels, Texas home since 2006. I currently work for Six Flags Entertainment Corporation in the Financial Accounting department, where I’ve been since 2014. Overall, I’ve been in the workforce since 1995, with experience spanning Operations, Human Resources, and Accounting. One of my more unique early experiences was working for a snowplowing company in Illinois, which was memorable not only because of the work itself but also because the company strongly invested in employee education and development.

In my current field, attention to detail and auditing are extremely important, and those skills are ones I rely on daily. Family is also a huge part of my life; I’ve been married for 24 years and have three grown daughters and a grandson. One daughter is a mom, another is currently a student at Texas State University, and my middle daughter is in her sixth year with the Air Force as a medic and veteran with a tour in Saudi Arabia, along with also working as an ICU registered nurse in San Antonio.

I’m enrolled in this class because I genuinely enjoy IT, and it’s a required course for my MBA in Finance program. I earned my bachelor’s degree in human resource management in 2025 and am now just beginning my MBA journey.

My future goals include advancing within my current company or potentially pursuing a higher-paying opportunity elsewhere. From this class, I hope to gain a stronger understanding of computer language, systems, and how to troubleshoot or resolve potential technology issues.

Outside of work and school, I love traveling, especially cruises, and I’m always looking forward to my next trip. A current event that relates to Management Information Systems is the growing use of AI and automation in financial and accounting systems. Many organizations are now implementing AI-driven tools for auditing, fraud detection, and data analysis, which highlights how critical strong information systems are for effective decision-making and management.
