Recruitment Template: Follow Up
Dear [Potential Participant/Parents/Student/etc.],
As a doctoral candidate in the Christian Leadership Doctoral Programs at Liberty University, I am conducting research to better understand how social media influences the religious behavior of church-going teenagers. Two weeks ago, an email was sent to you inviting your child to participate in a research study. This follow-up letter is being sent to remind you to review and return the attached parental consent form if you would like your child to participate and have not already done so.
Participants must be between the ages of 13 and 18 and currently attend a church on a regular basis. Participants will be asked to complete an online, anonymous survey about their use of social media and its impact on their religious practices. It should take approximately 15-20 minutes to complete the survey. Participation will be completely anonymous, and no personal, identifying information will be collected.
To participate, please have your child complete the attached survey and return it by email or contact me at [phone number/email address] to schedule a follow-up interview if you would prefer. If you agree to have your child participate and meet the criteria, I will send further instructions.
A consent document is attached to this letter, which provides additional information about the study. If you choose to participate for your child, you will need to sign the consent form and return it to me by email or to your child's teacher at their school.
Because participation is anonymous, you do not need to sign and return the consent document unless you would prefer to do so. After you have read the consent form, please complete and return the survey. Doing so will indicate that you have read the consent information and agree to participate.
Participants will receive a $10 gift card as a token of appreciation for their time.
Sincerely, Arnita Norman
