Choose one of the three poems from this module, “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost, “Hope is the Thing with Feathers” by Emily Dickinson, “Mother to Son” by Langston Hughes.
Read the poem and take note of how you feel as you read it the first time.
Research the author and the poem that you’ve chosen.
In a 1-page personal response, answer the following questions:
- What was your initial response to the poem? How did you feel while reading it? What questions did you have as you read?
- What did you learn about the author?
- What did you learn about the meaning of the poem?
- Read the poem for a second time. How did learning about the author and the meaning of the poem affect your appreciation of the poem?
