International Challenges and Approaches

Throughout this course, our focus has been on the Department of Homeland Security. Chapter 50: International Homeland Security is the baseline for this assignment. However, you may use content from Chapter 49: The Hyogo Framework for Action or Chapter 51: ISO Security Management Standards if you prefer (Chapter 49 and 51 can be found in the Recommended Resource section of this week). Clearly, we are closely connected to countries around the world, and they may look at issues differently than Americans. Throughout the course we have looked at the five missions and goals of the Department of Homeland Security. We examined how the United States is organized to counter, respond, and recover from disasters. Throughout our focus has been inward towards America. There are many countries in the world that have different perspectives and may not agree with our approach. For this discussion forum read Chapter 50: International Homeland Security (or if you prefer Chapter 49 or 51), and address one of the international issues that sheds light on Homeland Security missions and goals in America.
