Interdisciplinarity Studies

This short paper (no more than 5 pages) will be due at the end of Unit 2. In it you will (1) Distinguish a disciplinary from interdisciplinary, (2) explain how multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary are similar and different; (3) distinguish critical from instrument Interdisciplinarity; (4) provide two clear, fleshed-out examples of cross-disciplinarity and explain whether it is multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, or transdisciplinary and say why; and explain whether it is critical or instrumental interdisciplinarity and say why. 

It is best if these examples are your own. The paper should have no quotations in it, electing to explain the various concepts in your own words will take up the bulk of the paper (~3 pages). The other 1-2 pages will consist of your examples. (It should be in paper format, with clear paragraphs and structure, not simply a list of answers to questions.)

The paper is worth 100 points. It should be double-spaced, and all words must be your own. (That’s the only way your instructor can tell if you really understand the concepts or not.) If you are at all concerned about being accused of plagiarism, please discuss your worries with your professor before turning your paper in. It’s always better to be a little bit late than to fail the assignment for plagiarism and have academic dishonesty on your record.
