After reading and processing Du Bois and Washington," respond tone of the prompts below.

In Washington’s “Atlanta Exposition Address” he states the following about cooperation: “In all things that are purely social we can be as separate as the fingers, yet one as the hand in all things essential to mutual progress” (5).  What does this quote mean?  

OR

In Du Bois’s “Of Mr. Booker T. Washington and Others,” he states that Blacks must give up three things? What are these 3 things and why are they important? (It may be easier to list the 3 things and then focus the paragraph on 1 aspect that is most important to you)

• Use 1-2 quotes in each paragraph as evidence to support ideas.

Avoid

• Outside sources.  
• First-person (“I,” “me”) and second person pronouns (“you,” “your”).
• Using “I think,” “I feel,” “I believe,” and “In my opinion” because these statements prove nothing.
• Using the author's first name when referencing the literature.
