Go to or virtually visit a gallery or museum and choose one work of art that interests you. Without looking at the title, artist, or any other background information about the work:

• Write down your observations about it.
• How does it make you feel?
• What about the work that appeals to you and what do you dislike?

Part II

Then, read the background information provided about the work of art.  Afterward, write down:

• What do you feel, see, and understand differently about the work?
• What information changed your understanding? Why?
