Judaic Tradition

Let's use this topic to discuss and analyze the Jewish tradition when it comes to the decision to wage war and the conduct of war.   Share some thoughts on what our readings say about when the Jewish tradition says it's okay to engage in war and when it's not.   What about the conduct of war?   How have Judaic views changed over time?   Or have they?
