Selecting Communication Channels

For this discussion, think about the importance of choosing the right channel (for example, reports, e-mail, letters, phone calls, text, and face-to-face) for your messages as a leader. Respond to the following:

• Why is it important to choose the right channel for messages at work? 
  • Give an example (from your own experience) of when an appropriate channel was chosen for a message at work. Explain why it was an effective choice.
  • Give an example (from your own experience) of when an inappropriate channel was chosen for a message at work. Explain why it was an ineffective choice.
• What constraints or pressures exist in our changing workplaces that may simultaneously make it important to match your channel and message, and yet make it difficult to do so?
