How have past scientific discoveries impacted our lives today?

Some of today’s greatest discoveries have been based on the initial findings of some great scientists. For this assignment you will choose 2 of the following scientists below and write a report about them (in essay format). It must be at least 3 pages double spaced and typed (and have a separate title page with your roster number included), and your work should thoroughly discuss the following items: birthplace, education, family, discoveries and any other important events in his or her life. In addition, you will need to describe how the world would be today if that scientist had not made that discovery.  

You will be graded on content as well as spelling and grammar (use of proper English and complete statements). You will have to include the sources of your findings by listing at least 4 references at the end of the document (A reference page is not included in your page total!!). You may use the internet as a starting place to find information. However, please do not copy and paste from the internet (Also, Wikapedia is not a reference!!!). If you are found to do this then you will not receive any credit for this assignment.
