 For this assignment, you will choose two topics and write two short (200-250 words each) paragraphs about each topic. The purpose for this assignment is to help you identify two topics and to begin the process of developing specific research questions.

Paragraph 1: Please describe why you are interested in researching the issue and your general knowledge about it. What makes you interested in this particular topic? Do you have a personal interest of connection to the topic? Make sure you don’t tackle an entire category of argument (“Conserving Yellowstone Park”). Instead, make sure you focus on very specific aspects of the argument (“reducing the damage done to Yellowstone Park by snowmobiling”). Please don’t take a distinct position in these two paragraphs; rather, write all general information of which you are currently aware whether or not you agree with it personally.

Paragraph 2: In the second paragraph, please answer the question “what do I want to know more about and what kind of sources will I need?” Make sure these are issue questions (Ex: Does snowmobiling actually cause environmental damage?). To provide context, please as information questions (Ex: Where is Yellowstone Park located?) as well.
