How would you respond to the following statements that might be made by administrators and/or employees of a social service agency in regards to their work with diverse groups?  Identify a social work value related to this situation that might guide a response. Refer to the NASW Standards for Cultural Competence in Social Work Practice that describes the ways in which social workers and agencies are to conduct themselves in regard to cultural competence. What would be your response to each of the following statements if made by the agency if your were in your practicum: 

“We do not serve diverse clients at this agency.”

“Clients of color tend to go to agencies that focus on their specific needs rather than coming to us.”

“It shouldn’t matter if we hire employees that are mostly white."

“Handicapped people expect accommodations that are not reasonable, and we cannot provide those services.”
