Adam Smith’s,(First Great Social Scientist) ultimate goal appears to have been benefiting the common man. What factors outside Smith’s range of appreciation affected his two great factors—self-interest (greed) and competition and, thus, get in the way of his goal being achieved?   Where did his goal show its greatest success; where its greatest failure?  Why in those locations?
