All there be many aspects to why  both sides had fought during the Revolution Against Britain. One reason  the colonist wanted to rebel is because they wanted to have more say in  the government and the right to vote on legislation. Where as before the  King and parliament made the laws on taxes and who could have a say in  the government. Another reason the colonist wanted to break away from  Britain was for religious freedom. Under British rule church and state  were one, the colonist wanted church and state to be separate allowing  them to practice the religion of their choice. The decline of slavery  also began with to take place with the American Revolutionary all be it  slow.

If I had to pick a side during the Revolution it would be that of the  colonist. I believe church and state should be separate, all men should  be created equal and that all people should have an opportunity to vote  in government. This revolution set the foundation of what America is  today and in large part due to the reasons why the colonist fought the  rebellion. p
