- Writing assignment #1: Write 2-3 lengthy paragraphs (500 words or so) about this political cartoon from 1882, first analyzing the image and then contextualizing its meaning within the time period using Give Me Liberty! What does this political cartoon mean and how does it speak to the larger issues in the U.S. at the end of the 19th century?
- All written assignments pass through Turn It In to check for plagiarism and AI, so write in your own words and/or cite Give Me Liberty! if you quote it.
- Cite any ideas you learn from the textbook by noting the page number you quote from or paraphrase at the end of the sentence. Example: (Give Me Liberty!, p. 670). No need for a works cited page or bibliography. You may also cite the posted film clip like this (PBS, The Chinese Exclusion Act). Do not bring in other sources.
- Submit as a Word doc or PDF, writing in complete sentences with an opening thesis statement and ending with a concluding statement.
