RTI Tier 1-3 Graphic Organizer Assignment instructions

Overview

As special educators, it is necessary to assess and interpret data when making decisions about the needs of students. Through the reading and materials in the course, you will understand the role of the three tiers of Response to Intervention (RTI) to inform these decisions best.

Instructions

After studying the resources in the Learn section of this module, create a graphic organizer using a free app such as Creately, Edrawsoft, or another tool of your choice. Complete the following:

1. In the center bubble of your graphic organizer, put the title RTI Tier 1-3 and surround the center bubble with five middle-sized bubbles labeled Universal Screening, High-Quality Instruction, Increasingly Intense Levels of Instructional Intervention, Progress Monitoring, and Data-Based Decisions. These are the major categories for RTI.

2. Next, add additional smaller bubbles for the third level of the graphic organizer. In each third-level bubble, provide unique and appropriate cited facts from the IRIS Center modules, the course text, and other scholarly sources you curate for each of the five topics listed in the middle-level bubbles.  Make sure it is clear which facts relate to which of the RTI categories.

Color coding each category or using specific fonts or headings is suggested.

The finished graphic organizer will have five relevant facts for each of the five topics of RTI.

Provide in-text citations where sources were used for information. Add your References for all sources used to the graphic organizer document. Current APA formatting is expected.
