The video clip presented reminds me of the inquisitive nature of children as they enter the “why” phase. There have been many times that I have felt that I have a basic understanding of a given topic, but it becomes apparent just how limited that understanding truly is upon deeper examination when attempting to explain the world on more fundamental level the way that you would to a child. The goal of science is to build an understanding of the world around us, through an inquisitive lens. Our understanding is ever evolving in the quest for deeper knowledge and new ideas. In order to continue to expand scientific understanding, it is necessary to remain open to adaptation and revision of previously held beliefs as new information becomes available. Absolute statements such as “truth” or “certainty” can be very limiting in this regard because they leave little room for questioning. I feel that scientific understanding has little to do with what we know for certain, instead it is examining what we feel we know on a deeper level, and knowing there is even more to learn.

Scientific understanding for me means getting proof and or evidence about something that you're researching. Like for example, if someone is severely ill and no one quite understand exactly what is causing that illness. That person would go to the doctor and get a checkup to see what is causing this illness, rather its giving blood work to be tested in the lab or getting CT scans etc. Another example, if a child sees the fire on top of a gas stove, it's interesting to them and you tell them that it's hot and not to touch it. As a child you hear what the adult said but that fire is so interesting that as a child you touch that fire and get burned due to not listening.
