Developing Professional Maturity: Photo Essay

In this assignment, you will illustrate a commitment to personal health and well-being and a spirit of inquiry that fosters flexibility and professional maturity by creating a photo essay.

Photo essays tell a story in pictures. This is a PowerPoint assignment with voice. This is not simply an art form assignment but an academic-level illustration of your commitment to personal health well-being as a health care professional while demonstrating an advanced-level spirit of inquiry, fostering flexibility and professional maturity. Much of the content you may realize is yet to be developed within you. Address how you have progressed in each topic and how you plan to continue to develop. Pace yourself as you add the audio so the picture can have an impact on the viewer as well as your content.

The content on the slide should be a photo with a title aligning with the below-bolded slide topics. You can add a brief description or a few words on the side if you choose or over the picture slightly, using appropriate aesthetics. Look up examples of photo essays to gain ideas. Remember, this is not strictly only a photo essay or art. You will have a title on each slide and audio narration with academic-level reflection and references toward advanced nursing maturity.

The focus is on you and your representation of the content via pictures and voice.

Each slide should be an appropriately related photo then described by you in audio.

· Spirit of Inquiry: A photo. Describe what this means and how you plan to foster inquiry in your professional practice. Where will you locate resources?

· Fostering Flexibility: A photo. Describe what this means and how you plan to foster flexibility in your professional practice. How might flexibility be shown? Include narration content on social determinants of health.

· Lifelong Learning: A photo. Describe what lifelong learning you will have to maintain for your advanced nursing practice role.

· Professional Maturity: A photo. Address what professional maturity will look like in your new role. What needs do you have to develop to attain professional maturity in your new role, and what skills do you have now that will translate?

· Conclusion: A photo. The picture here is about you and your professional journey as you begin the road toward your master’s degree.

· References: Include scholarly support in your references and a reference page. Personal reflection supported by published sources adds support to your reasoning. You can cite on the bottom right of the slide in a smaller font 10–12, to keep within the aesthetics of the presentation. Your instructor can direct you on any specific requirements for referring to the citation.

· The photos should elicit a depiction, an emotion, or a thought related to the purpose of the assignment and topical slide content.

· All the pictures do not have to be yours but can be from other sources you reference.
