Finding Poetry in the Music of the Day

Many songs have been produced by the current generation proving to be capable of having

thoughtful, profound literature, and words that are significant in thought. One good example is “Let

Me Love You” by DJ Snake featuring Justin Bieber. This song is properly produced to become

captivating to the target audience with a catchy tune and heartfelt lyrics. The song is a love song

and through its lyrics, the deeper meaning is exposed resonating well with the audience.

This song shows the desire to be loved by someone. It exposes the vulnerabilities that an

individual is exposed to when opening their heart to someone they love. “We were burning on the

edge of something beautiful” (DJ Snake, 2). This shows how someone has been struggling to open

their heart to someone they love. Even with the struggle they are not ready to give up on love.

“Never let you go, never let me down” (DJ Snake & Justin, 9). This shows how the individual in

love is begging their love to also love back.

This love song is similar to a poem by John Keats, “The day is gone, and all its sweets are gone!”

The poem shows how the poet is away from his love and misses her so much in the middle of the

night. “Faded the sight of beauty from my eyes,” (Keats, 6). Even though the poet seems to have

spent the day with his love, he feels like it’s been many years away from her in the night. The poet

longs to see her beauty and he is always remembering how beautiful his love is. When the night

comes the poet leaves love. We see how the poet goes through the struggles of love and how cruel

love is that he has to be alone when darkness comes. The poet remains holding on to love even

when darkness curtains. This shows how hopeful and positive the poet is to this love.” He’ll let me

sleep, seeing I fast and pray” (Keats, 14).

expose the struggles and vulnerabilities in love. Even when the person is not showing up or

reciprocating the love, one keeps holding on. This situation can be painful because one can only

hope for better days when love will come through.
