Assignment: AI Debate Reflection Video
Purpose
This short reflection video is designed to give you low-pressure practice in public speaking while allowing you to think critically about your experience debating the AI tool. Public speaking is a skill that improves with practice. The more you do it in informal settings, the more confident you will feel in formal ones.
This assignment is not about being polished or perfect. It is about showing up, speaking naturally, and reflecting honestly.
What You Will Do
1. After completing your AI debate in Week 9, record a short 3–5 minute video reflecting on your experience.
2. Speak informally, as if you are talking to a classmate or friend about what you just did. No need to script it word-for-word.
3. Upload your video to the Week 10 “Debate Video Reflection” assignment.
Reflection Prompts
Use the following guiding questions to shape your reflection.
· How did debating an AI tool affect your confidence or comfort level as a communicator and critical thinker? How did it feel to argue against a “non-human” opponent compared to how you would expect a peer debate to go?
· What did this experience teach you about your own communication or argument style? Did the AI bring up anything that surprised you or made you think differently?
· How might this debate influence the way you approach future discussions or presentations?
Video Reflection Tips
· 3–5 minutes in length
· Keep it informal and conversational. Imagine you are talking to someone who is curious about your experience.
· You do not need a fancy setup. Record on your phone, laptop, or any device with a camera. A quiet space is helpful, but perfection is not required.
· Try to speak naturally without reading directly from notes. It is fine to glance at your guiding questions but let your personality and true reflections on your debate come through.
· Review the rubric in detail to see the areas in which you are being graded. Be sure to address your debate content and what you learned from the experience.
